Sivakhami

Founded in 1955 by Sri Arumugha Ramanathan, Sivakami is the first authorized BOMBAY DYEING showroom in Trivandrum.

Sri Arumugha Ramanathan was an M.B.A graduate from University of Stanford (U.S.A). He came back from U.S.A, in order to realize his dream of starting a business of his own in his own country. Thus Sivakhami Textiles came into being.

We started business as a distributor of “METTUR MULLS & LONG CLOTHS”. They were known for producing the finest quality of “mundu” (dhotis) which is the traditional dress of South Indians. As “mundu” was worn by people of all walks of life, the business was a big success.

At a later stage, we added general textile materials to our business. This move was done when we considered the changing trends in shopping at that time and also considering the varying taste of the customers.

On January 17 1986, we transformed our shop into an exclusive BOMBAY DYEING showroom and was renamed as Sivakhami.

Today Sivakhami, which is in its 25th year as a BOMBAY DYEING showroom is taken forward by Sri. R. Somasundaram following the illustrious foot-steps of his father Sri Arumugha Ramanathan.

The renovated showroom of Shivakhami was inaugurated by Shri A. Velliangiri, Deputy Managing Director, Tamilnadu Newsprint and Papers Limited on 14th February 2013.
